The assessor of each municipality determines the assessed value of all real and personal property as of January 1st of each year.  For example, the 2017 real estate property tax bill is as of 1/1/2017 and will be mailed to property owners in December 2017, with the first installment due on or before January 31st 2018 and the second installment due on or before July 31st 2018.  The Town of Sevastopol contracts with Associated Appraisal Consultants, Inc., of Appleton, Wisconsin to provide assessment services.  For assessment questions, you can call 1-800-721-4157, or you may complete an "Assessment Review Form" Request for Review of Property Assessment.pdf and submit it to our assessor.   A member of the Associated Appraisal staff will contact you to arrange for an appointment and inspection of your property.  Associated is a very familiar with Door County properties and the local real estate market;  several Door County municipalities contract with them for assessment services.

The 2024 Open Book and Board of Review dates are yet to be determined with the Revaluation process currently taking place.  As soon as those dates are determined, they will be posted here on the website and on the Town's marquee sign in front of the Town Hall. Both sessions will be at the Sevastopol town hall.

Open Book is an informal process where property owners can meet with the assessor regarding assessments.  Depending on the information gathered, the assessor may make an adjustment at that time.   An appointment is recommended, but not required.

Real estate and personal property is assessed as of January 1st and assessed values are recorded in the assessment roll.  The Wisconsin Department of Revenue's Guide for Property Owners provides helpful information on the difference between assessed value, equalized value and full value. 2023 Guide for Property Owners
